Halo gets a new leading man.

M

aster Chief may still be floating through the great unknown, but Bungie delivers the next best thing to us this week. Halo 3: ODST seeks to deliver on the promise of the original Halo 2 E3 demonstration — New Mombasa is under siege and only your lonely shock trooper can slow the Covenant advance. What this title lacks in ambition should be made up for in production quality and fun. Included in the package is a standalone Halo 3 matchmaking client.

Having been at it for so many years, one would guess that Korean publisher NCSoft would have successfully brought one of its many MMOs to Western audiences by now. Not that they haven't tried, and Aion: Tower of Eternity probably won't be their last attempt. A plethora of character customization options and a keen wit hope to set this PC experience apart from its forebears.

Was Left 4 Dead's first-person perspective a bit too demanding for you? You may want to check out Konami's Zombie Apocalypse, releasing this week on PSN and the Xbox Marketplace. Featuring a top-down perspective, plenty of gore and four player cooperative play, this arcade experience could deliver a whole lot of bang for the buck. Wrangle up some zombie-slaying friends and give it a try.
