What's with those green diamonds, anyway?

O

ne of the most popular "casual" games to ever be released gets its second major overhaul this week — The Sims 3 gives players countless new ways to torture (or love) their created avatars. EA promises more customization options and a virtually seamless game world.

Red Faction: Guerilla is now available for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3. While few may remember the PlayStation 2 original, THQ has been refining this FPS franchise with its highly destructible environments for nearly a decade. Fight for workers' rights, and blow stuff up in the process — what could be more fun than that?

Is "post-apocalyptic racing" a genre? Codemasters apparently thinks so, and I'm not going to argue with them. Fuel releases this week for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
