Retail Roundup: April 8, 2009

An unlikely classic returns.

T

his week, EA offers up yet another title based on Francis Ford Coppola's films. Of course, it's up to you to decide whether to accept or refuse The Godfather II. This game continues the open world action of its predecessor with larger environments and more jobs to take on. The sequel's bound to be bigger, but will it necessarily be better?

It's not every day that publishers try to sell the exact same game twice. It's also not every day that a game based on a film is actually worth playing. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena takes the Xbox classic to the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360. New single player levels and stunning new graphics certainly make this one worth visiting again.

Mutants, ninjas and Tokyo? What's not to like? Ninja Blade is an action title from Japanese developer From Software. It will be interesting to see what the game maker is capable of when not limited to mech simulation or anime-inspred RPGs. This hack and slash extravaganza releases this week for the Xbox 360.
