Retail Roundup: March 3, 2009

Halo gets a little less personal.

W

hile some are bound to think of it as "the game that shut down Ensemble Studios," to me it's simply Halo Wars. I certainly had my misgivings when this Spartan filled RTS was first announced, but last month's demo had me singing a different tune — the controls are spot on and the production is pure Halo.

I usually leave it to Namco to provide me with my arcade flying experiences, but I'm still somewhat receptive to newcomers. Ubisoft takes their Tom Clancy license to the skies this week with HAWX, an action packed flight game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Provided the controls are solid, it could be a worthwhile diversion.

Apparently this is the week to be a baseball fan. 2K Sport's Major League Baseball 2K9 releases on all major platforms whilst Sony's MLB 09: The Show comes out for PS3, PS2 and PSP. Batter up!

Sega's multiplayer RPG goes mobile this week: Phantasy Star Portable releases for the PSP. Up to four players can enjoy the monster slaying and dungeon crawling that's made the series so popular.
