Yet another try at mixing games and anime.

W

hile the original anime seemed to fit a bit too well into Spike TV's programming lineup, even I'll admit — Afro Samurai has the potential to be one heck of a video game. Couple the minimalist beauty of the series with some solid hack-and-slash gameplay, and you've got what it takes to make one heck of an afternoon. This Namco Bandai release hits the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this week.

2K Sports may just have hit a homerun with this idea. Considering everyone finds something to hate in just about every baseball release ever made, why not remove the game from the game? MLB Front Office Manager simulates what life must be like managing the day-to-day operations of a major league club. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC gamers: put on your fancy duds and get to work.

Rygar's being remade once again, this time for Nintendo's Wii. While one can imagine the Wiimote gestures that will be used to manipulate shield throws and enemy grabs, I somehow doubt that arm swinging will be enough to keep gamers interested. Considering the jaw dropping graphics that have accompanied Tecmo's other arcade remakes, Wii-quality graphics are destined to under whelm.

Neil Gaiman should not be allowed to write children's books — while most of the man's works are pure genius, even the tamer bits would have given me nightmares. Well, Coraline brings the kid-friendly fun of one of his works (and the movie based on it) to the DS, Wii and PlayStation 2 this week. While the game's 'E' rating may mean a less than satisfying difficulty curve, one can only hope that it's tailored for enjoyment by all audiences.
