Retail Roundup: September 3, 2008

Guns for some, fuzzy animals for others.

T

his week on the retail front: things could be better, and they could be a whole lot worse. Like its predecessor, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames seeks to wow those who are wowed by explosions — apparently, Venezuelan oil is even more combustible than North Korea's infrastructure. On the fuzzier side of gaming, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise finds you back in the garden raising an even larger menagerie of animal life. Sports fans, you haven't been left out of the mix either — in the event you weren't able to snag the collector's edition of Madden NFL 09, NFL Head Coach is now available as a standalone product. As for downloads, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball lands on Xbox whilst Super Mario RPG gets re-released on the Wii's Virtual Console. I don't know about you, but I can't get too angry over any week that includes a Mario game.
