nother week, another… week. The snow outside my front door is six inches high and rising at the moment, so I'm afraid I won't be making the trek to my local game retailer anytime soon. For those of you in warmer climes, here's a listing of a few of the new titles you'll find on store shelves this week.
As a huge fan of Les Triplettes de Belleville (and French animation in general), Professor Layton and the Curious Village has certainly caught my eye. This Nintendo DS title combines a unique art style with an assortment of challenging logic puzzles. Think Brain Age, but with a story and style.
I'd been doing a pretty good job repressing any memories of Hayden Christensen's abysmal performances in the Star Wars prequels, but then Fox had to go and produce The Jumper. A video game by the same name releases this week on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Expect teleportation, befuddling plot twists and a lifeless main character.
Farm, keep house and find true love all over again with Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon on the PlayStation 2. This particular title puts a sci-fi spin on the series' usual gameplay, but if you'd like to see where it all began, this week also marks the appearance of the original Harvest Moon on the Wii's Virtual Console.
Hironobu Sakaguchi and developer Mistwalker bring yet another new RPG to the Xbox 360 with Lost Odyssey. It's a traditional Japanese game on Japan's least popular console. Go figure.
Techno and an unforgiving difficulty curve have always been a part of Sony's venerable sci-fi racing series. Wipeout Pulse on the PSP gives hardcore fans the challenge they've been craving in a package they can take anywhere.
