One-Liner: Collecting Treasure

How does your desire for gaming affect your purchases?

I

'm a collector of sorts. I'm not obsessive about it, but I do like to buy a lot of games. When I find good deals or sales I will pick titles up spontaneously on the pretense that I will get around to playing them someday. I have games sitting on my shelf from 10 years ago that I haven't even so much as put in a system. A myriad other games I've hardly touched sit there collecting dust while I get caught up in the allure of shiny new things. I also just spent over $100 in the recent Steam sale, buying around 30 games for PC, because it was just too good of a deal to pass up. Will I ever have time to play them all? Maybe if I stop buying new games for a while!

How does your desire for gaming affect your purchases?

I hate clutter! My purchases, finances aside, tend to be few and far between. A game worth spending money for is one that is played thoroughly.

Toys R Us is giving out $15 gift cards with the purchase of Dragon Quest IX. I knew some place would sucker me into buying that game this week.

Chris and I definitely fall into the "collector" category, but we don't exactly go crazy buying games en masse.

Most of the games in our library (comprising many book shelves) or fairly old since we haven't had the money to purchase anything new recently. We have traded some, but there are several that we could never part with (i.e. my Final Fantasy VII -- both US and International versions).

Looking around my room, I'd say I'm a collector. I still have just about every game I've ever owned except the couple that I never should have owned and pawned off at a tag sale.

Happily, money is pretty much always in short supply so I've never been tempted to splurge on games I wouldn't have time to play.
