The tribal theme throws me a bit. How smoothly is it introduced to Fallout's established style?

It makes for a bit of a rough start if your character has no melee skills. The first area of the game you need to get through using punches/kicks or a spear, so if you have a low strength score, you'll very likely get screwed over before the game even really starts. Once you get out into the world and gain some experience, get some armor and a gun, it feels just like the first game (but with the noted adult content).
