I really like the sound of that. Take screenshots!

Sounds great! Let's plan to meet up sometime soon.

I've been trying to add you guys for the last couple of days but it keeps saying it can't find you guys. Mine should be Swift@Swiftoid if you can try adding me.

Hitting print screen will take a snapshot to the game folder, so its really easy to get pics. Will post some of mine when I take some better ones!

Ed should have contacted you, James — as of yesterday, he hadn't received his beta code.

Well, Chris and I will be on tonight and perhaps every night this week. We want to get as most out of this beta as possible. I will try to add you tonight, James.

No, he hasn't. I did hear rumblings that some people were not getting beta keys from retailers if they'd pre-ordered after a certain time. Whether this is because they were running out or there was a cut-off date, its been pretty unclear.

My experience with the beta is mixed. Chris and I loved space battles (although relative speed plays an odd role), but away missions were weird and there is no comfortable way to just explore.

I wish it was less linear. Did either of you have a different experience?

Dear EB Games: thanks for nothing. Like clockwork, I just received my early access code from Amazon today. I'm looking forward to finally being able to give ST:O a shot, though I share many of the concerns/misgivings that have been expressed in this thread. I question how well Cryptic's approach to multiplayer will pan out in the real world — certain aspects of the game's design seem to cater beautifully to the casual or pick-up player, but I fear the traditional "raiding" set won't have as much to keep them interested. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it's this MMO's single-player components that have excited me most.

One of my main gripes with it is the whole instance thing, which results in a limited and rather unconvincing universe. Its safe to say I won't be starting up a subscription after the first free month.

Sorry to hear; I wasn't particularly excited about the title but hate to see the franchise represented less powerfully than it could be.
