Anecdotal waning of Nintendo's fortunes is interesting, because it's contradicted by sales figures and bold moves on behalf of the company's management. Just how many males aged 25-40 have owned a Wii for two years but are now turning to the other consoles for games which actually interest them? We know a few here and there; they're probably not statistically insignificant, nor reflective of a general demographic that doesn't see things Nintendo's way.

But what if they don't matter: that gamers really can be anybody, and Black Friday sales prove that, setbacks notwithstanding, Nintendo was right after all?
