I'm not a fan of Square Enix no more. I Felt betrayed with what they did with the Final Fantasy Tactics world. I hereby support Atlus, no matter how ridiculously hard their games are.

I've lost faith in Square since they merged. They've have become a big lethargic Japanese version of EA.
I'm a bit more excited about FF than I initially was, 1 because this is one of those cards that any Sony purchaser threw in your face as one of the reasons to purchase the console, and 2 because now I don't have to go out and PURCHASE another console. This was an intelligent move by Microsoft.
MTV multiplayer blog had a post on there one of the Microsoft guys commented on a white board they have in their office of every game people said would never appear on a 360. Apparently FFXIII was one of those games, what I want to know is what are the other games on that whiteboard that we may see on the 360 as simultaneous release or exclusivity...

I've lost faith in them as well, Ryan but I still plan on purchasing this title. Phil and I have merged households so I have access to a PS3, 360 and Wii, so this warranted a discussion: Which platform will we buy FFXIII for? Probably the PS3, he said. However, had I still been living at home I would have been elated with this news because I wouldn't want to have to buy a PS3 just to play this title. No matter how I feel about Square lately, I'd still like to give their newest Final Fantasy a go.
I'm one of those people that liked the company up until Final Fantasy XI. Then it went pretty much downhill from there. I am still a huge, huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts franchise and will buy every game that comes out with the KH logo on it. I'm not thrilled with the way they milked FFVII to hell and back, though. Advent Children for fan service? Great. A million games about FFVII? Not so great. That's just way too much. Like I stated in another thread, I was excited there was going to be a new Star Ocean game until I saw that Square-Enix popped into the equation. Now it just looks like your run of the mill Square game.
I will stick to buying the Dragon Quest games, and I will get Chrono Trigger for the DS...but something doesn't feel quite right for me just yet here. Although, kudos on Microsoft's part for making thousands of people very, very happy.

P.S. Submit this article to N4G and watch the hits roll in.
This is a hot hot hot topic there right now.

Good call, Ryan. I submitted it this morning.
It's really cooking.

This news has really shocked a lot of people that had been holding off to get that PS3. I'm very excited to see that its coming to both consoles now. As Dana and I were talking last night, I'll probably get the PS3 version. Though it'll depend how many discs the 360 version is and which system the game seems better on.

I hopped on the Square bandwagon accidentally while hunting through sale-price games. It was BOGO and i had come to Best Buy for Unreal Championship for the XBOX. Sitting next to it was Final Fantasy X, a game i kept hearing about but hadn't played. I picked it up thinking "heck, it's free, maybe i'll play it sometime."
Well, let's just say the game collecting dust ended up being UC. I fell in love with FFX and felt inclined to pick up the goofy (and understandably unpopular) FFX-2. I skipped XI (not much a fan of the pay-to-play thing) but got XII, and i thought XII was great (though circumstances--read: finals) kept me from finishing it.
I'm excited about the new game and although i was once a big fan of Sony (that is, before they decided to put Blu-Ray ahead of gaming as a priority on the PS3), i no longer am one. That said, i was hoping the PS3 would break out this year, and perhaps recapture my fanboyism. FFXIII on the 360 is going to be a difficult hurdle though.
I love Kingdom Hearts, enjoyed TWEWY, grew up on Brave Fencer Musashiden (a VERY underrated Squaresoft entry) and Einhander (an equally underrated game, a side-scroller), and thus cannot call a moratorium on my love for the company, but i admit my love of the company would probably not be the same if i'd grown up playing the original FF games only to see Square tearing them apart now.
It's ironic, really. After Advent Children, all anyone REALLY wanted from Square was a next-gen remake of FFVII. We can't get that--but we get a slew of mediocrity.
Finally--i know this post is sort of scatterbrained--but i think this was an intelligent move. According to the Squenix press conference yesterday, the 360 version is not going to be released in Japan. Japan loves Sony, and the PS3 platform is enough for the Japanese FF players. But the console has simply not taken off here in America. The 360 is the exact opposite situation. It has proven itself in the US, unlike the PS3, and i think this is some tough love from Square, a way of saying "look, pull yourself together, and maybe we can go back to how it used to be. But right now, in the shape you're in, i can't justify this exclusive relationship."
Some people predict the end of exclusivity. That may be inevitable, but i don't think forward-thinking is nearly as much of a motivator behind this as present-day economics is.

My mistake, I forgot about The Last Remnant. I might still have a bit of interests in Square-Enix. Now I hope that gets released on the 360 as well. Go Square-Enix! Betray some more!

Thanks Mike.
I enjoy a good debate and I enjoy video games AND (for the tri-feck-ta (sp!?)) I enjoy news so N4G is a good spot to frequent.
However the idiotic factor in the comments section can increase 20 fold at times.

It is a multiplatform (add the PC too!) release and has been planned as such for months now, I believe....
The only PS3 exclusive (at the moment) that I can think of off the top of my head from Square is Final Fantasy Versus XIII. However, even that is on the back burner at the current moment.

Nevertheless, they said at the Square conference yesterday that they've no plans to alter Versus' exclusivity.
So Sony has that going for them.

BETRAY BETRAY BETRAY. I really wasn't expecting it to be honest, but its cool. Haven't seen gameplay yet, but i have a feeling it'll be a little bland. Visuals look nice, so points there.

I had Final Fantasy VII and VIII for the PC first, before I got them for the PSOne. Yeah, they need to ring in the PC again...I don't think they will, but it would be nice.
Edit: Just read through some of the comments on N4G. Wish I hadn't. They didn't even read the article, they just went off on a tantrum based on the title. Lame.
