Uh oh, Ed.
You called MGS4 "not perfect". Get ready for the fanboys to run over here!

I'm not perfect either, but I'm still lovable :D
No, I really do love this game. It's absolutely HUGE! And as cheesy as the dialog is, it's ten times better than games past.
As for the fanboys -- BRING 'EM ON!!! :p

Not quite sure what to make of MGO. My attempts of trying to play it have been met with problems connecting to Konami's servers and disconnects. And I'm still not sure if my headset is even working on the PS3.

Sorry to hear you're having problems signing on, Matt. I haven't experienced too many problems myself, but then again, I've only played with others once
Your experience so far reminds me of Capcom's server situation for Steel Battalion on the original Xbox -- I never was able to sign onto their servers due to lag. I'm sure your problems should right themselves eventually. Once you're able to sign on, let me know -- we should try getting a few games in with Phil (and anyone else who's interested). The team dynamic of MGO really is awesome, despite how difficult it is to use the controls :)

It's working out for the best right now anyway seeing as how I'm getting pretty engaged with the single player story.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. Ed, you put up a great review on the game. Metal Gear Solid 4 really is great, but like you've pointed out, it's not perfect. From what I've played so far I've really enjoyed it and I look forward to finishing it at some point.
I'd be glad to try the multiplayer out sometime this week/weekend with you. Matt, for activating your voice in multiplayer, just remember to hit the 'select' button to open a channel. It's sometimes hard to tell if it's working, since not everyone is using a headset on the PS3 games yet.

Thanks for the tip there Magiz. Trying out MGO may have to wait until Sunday, I already have plans for the rest of the weekend.

This topic is a little old, but I joined the forums late. =) I recently got my PS3 two weeks ago, the 80gig MGS4 edition. MGS has been one of my favorite game series of all so of course I finally broke down and bought my PS3 for it. After beating the game during my 3 days off from work I tried out MGO. I gotta admit I like it, it is definitely a different feel than what I am used to for shooters online. Definitely a slower pace than my CoD4 & Halo3. But I enjoy the ability to customize your character & weapons. I only played a few matches so I don't know what kind of gametypes there are really. So if you guys want to play a few matches send an invite.

We still haven't played much of this online, Vaulter -- while I'm sure we'll give it a shot (eventually), I know that I for one am still too obsessed with the likes of COD4 and Halo 3 to make room for another shooter in my playlist.
Speaking of PS3 shooters, is anyone keeping tabs on the upcoming SOCOM title? The first game in that series was what introduced me to online shooters, and this newest outing looks to be one of the most hardcore games to ever grace consoles...
