merican McGee already laid claim to the modern retelling of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but what if someone a little like Alice were given a career in counseling and a belt-fed chain gun? She'd be Alice Drake, star of Mindware Studios' first-person shooter Dreamkiller, wherein a psychologist enters her patients' REM netherworlds and "resolves issues" by way of a stream of heavy-caliber bullets.

Like so many in Generation Y, an acquaintance of mine saw his brainchild swiped from its cradle in the dead of night. Picture, if you will, a planet overcome by invasion, leaving quislings, cowards, the huddled masses and the only hope for mankind — heavy metal rockers. He claims it was his first, but here it is, brought to market by Electronic Arts with the action-adventure bombshell Brutal Legend.

Game of the Year editions can be self-congratulatory or rightfully deserved, and such is the latter case with Bethesda Softworks' Fallout 3 (Game of the Year Edition). Care to vie for what's left of the world with mutants, raiders and who knows what else, all to Billie Holiday and jump blues? Get in a jumpsuit and head out of Vault 101, post-haste.
