he most overlooked PlayStation platformer gets a second lease on life this week. That's right, folks: Klonoa has been ported to the Wii. This colorful romp may not feel quite as groundbreaking as it did back in the 90's (a lot's happened to advance the genre over the past ten years), but that floppy-eared cat still has some tricks up his sleeve. Here's hoping Namco Bandai actually sells a few copies this time around.
Its predecessor arrived on the PSP during the middle of a renaissance of sorts for the platform — Patapon 2 will be a benchmark in its own right, the first major title to be sold exclusively as a digital download. Will this rhythm/platform hybrid succeed, or will it slip under the radar like all too many digital releases? Only time will tell.
Will Donkey Kong Jungle Beat be nearly as entertaining sans plastic bongo peripheral? This latest 'New Play Control!' title for the Wii replaces the GameCube version's drum controller with Wiimote and nunchuck-enabled play. While I appreciate not having to store another plastic doodad in my closet, I'm afraid it just won't be the same.
Rounding out this week's new releases is Popcap's Plants vs. Zombies. Our own Jeremy Steeves has already put in his two cents: this puzzle/strategy game has "classic" written all over it. Are you a PC gamer looking for a new timesink? Get thee to the internet!
