Retail Roundup: December 16, 2008

You take the good, you take the bad.

A

n action/role playing game based on Greek mythology couldn't be all bad — Oedipal complexes, hideous snake-headed ladies, guys with cow heads. Man, being a teenager in ancient Greece must have been rough. Anyway, explore some of that fun and excitement this week in Codemaster's Rise of the Argonauts. It releases for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

While hardcore music/rhythm freaks have been enjoying Rock Band 2 for a few months now, this week we see the franchise make the move onto Wii and PlayStation 2. While neither title features downloadable tracks out of the gate, the addictive team play remains intact.

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People may not be a hit with critics, but it's apparently selling well enough on Wii and PC that developer Telltale Games has seen fit to release episode 5. Who knows — the debut of Trogdor might be what it takes to get me to try this downloadable serial.

Remember how funny redneck humor was back in 2002? Phew — those were some good times! Apparently, the folks at Zoo Games never left the craze behind. Calvin Tucker's Redneck Jamboree, yet another collection of shoddily constructed party games for the Wii, releases this week. Yee-haw!!!
