Two zombies walk into a bar...

W

hile Crystal Dynamix continues to reinvent Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Underworld, publisher Eidos didn't need much help remembering: in the world of advertising, sex sells. When you're through raising an eyebrow at the company's tacky online ad campaign, you may want to crane your neck toward's Lara's latest adventure — environmental puzzles and gunplay are practically guaranteed.

Zombies are fun. Zombies brought to life courtesy of Valve's Source Engine are really fun. The folks who brought you Half-Life are at it again, this time providing one of the most visceral shooter experiences since the original Doom. Check out Left 4 Dead on PC and Xbox 360 this week.

It's like Mortal Kombat with Batman. Okay, who am I kidding. It is Mortal Kombat with Batman. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe releases this week for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Fans of the golden age — you've been warned.

Perhaps this week's biggest game release isn't a game at all. The New Xbox Live Experience (or NXE as Microsoft has creatively dubbed it) seeks to combine the power of the old Live with the appeal of the Wii's user interface. I'd be a bit scared if Microsoft didn't already have years of experience at this sort of thing. Either way, be prepared for you dashboard's new look.
